  Abstract

This study evaluates the international standing of South Korean research in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the construction industry. Given that construction is a high-risk industry with a high incidence of occupational accidents globally, it remains the sector with the highest number of fatalities in South Korea over the past decade. Consequently, South Korean researchers have conducted various studies related to construction OSH and have earned notable international recognition. This study analyzes these research achievements from an international perspective. Utilizing the Scopus database, 697 academic papers on construction OSH were selected to analyze global research trends, and an additional in-depth analysis was conducted on 57 papers authored by South Korean researchers. The main analytical parameters include the number of papers published annually, contributions by country, journal contributions, and research keyword trends. Furthermore, the study examines South Korean papers from safety engineering, safety management, and technological innovation perspectives, drawing significant insights. This research provides an objective evaluation of the current status of South Korean construction OSH research at the international level and suggests future research directions, offering guidance that can inform policy formulation and the development of research strategies.
