  Abstract

In this study, we studied the effect of latex binder on recycled leather using shaving scrap. Recycled leather sheets were manufactured by mixing shaving scrap, latex binder and additives. Experiments were conducted on the types of latex binders, NR latex (natural rubber latex), SBR latex (styrene rubber latex) and, NBR latex (nitrile rubber latex). Mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength and abrasion resistance were measured. To confirm the application for automobile interior seat, the bonding properties and creep properties with PU foam were evaluated. Washing fastness was evaluated on the degree of dyeing of recycled leather sheets for six type of multifiber woven fabrics (acetate, cotton, nylon-66, polyester, acryl, wool). As a result, when NBR latex was applied, it showed better mechanical properties and bonding properties than NB latex or SB latex.
