  Abstract

The effect of cellulase treatment and pre-treatment using the CPB(cold pad batch) method on new lyocell (regenerated cellulose fiber from cotton linter) fabrics was evaluated by measuring bursting strength reduction and whiteness. The surface appearance of new lyocell fabric was examined using a microscope. Cellulase treatment increased the bursting strength reduction of the fabric. The treated fabric was whiter than the untreated fabric, and whiteness was unaffected by increases in aging temperature, time, or cellulase concentration. Fewer fibrils were observed in cellulase-treated fabrics than in pectinase-treated fabrics. Cellulase treatment was confirmed to decrease fibrillation.
