  Abstract

The viscoelastic behaviors of Poly(lactic acid)(PLA)/Montmorillonite(MMT) solution and film were measured to study MMT dispersion and PLA conformation, which have critical influences on the physical properties of the PLA/MMT composite film. The dispersion of MMT in the matrix was also observed using SEM and XRD. All the experimental results that were performed revealed that MMT was homogeneously dispersed and interacted strongly with PLA through ion exchange. Homogenous dispersion improved the mechanical properties of the film.
