  Abstract

Lyocell fiber, with its elasticity and excellent touch, is ideal for use in clothing and sanitary products. Additionally, unlike viscose rayon, solvent recovery and carbon neutrality is possible, making it environmentally friendly. Research to activate lint on the surface of the fibers by chemically treating lyocell long fiber nonwoven fabric has been underway. As a chemical treatment method, after immersing the lyocell long fiber nonwoven fabric in an alkali solution, the degree of lint generation on the surface of the long fiber nonwoven fabric was analyzed, and its chemical and physical properties were analyzed upon alkali treatment. A 3D model was generated using the physical properties of the chemically treated lyocell nonwoven fabric, and a filtration performance simulation study was conducted subsequently. Alkali treatment activated the lint on the surface of the fabric with the NaOHtreated specimen producing the most lint. Further, simulation results showed that the pressure loss value was the lowest as the specific surface area of the specimen treated with NaOH was the largest. It’s value also reduced by more than 23.2% compared to the specimen without chemical treatment.
