  Abstract

The superhydrophobic surface with non-wettable property has been widely explored, though, it is still a great challenge to develop an approach to construct a hierarchical roughness both on hard and soft substrates. In this study, the nano-silica with radial wrinkle structures (RWNs) was prepared via one-pot method and functionalized by Hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (CH3-RWNs). The coral-like morphology structure onto hard or soft substrates was created by spraying or immersion process with the ethanolic dispersion of CH3-RWNs. The superhydrophobic surface presented a rough coral-like morphology in Cassie-Baxter state with extremely low adhesion. The coating established a superior hydrophobicity with water contact angle (WCA) larger than 164.7
