  Abstract

This study investigated the change of dyeability and mechanical properties of silk by cellulose nanofibers (CNF). It was difficult to observe CNF from the surface of silk pretreated with CNF by SEM. The K/S value of silk dyed with Euphorbia fumifusa extract showed very good results when 0.5 % of CNF was added. The lightfastness of silk dyed with CNF improved from grade 2 to 3, and the fastness to washing and perspiration of silk before and after was the same, and there was little difference in the fastness to rubbing. As a result of the analysis of the mechanical properties by KES, the total hand value (T.H.V.) was very excellent with grade 6 or higher. Although the air permeability of silk dyed with Euphorbia fumifusa extract by adding CNF was rather low, it was found that the UV protection properties were very good. This study is valuable in that CNF, a natural material used for dyeing, can improve dyeability, functional and mechanical properties in natural dyeing.
