About the Journal of the Korean Society of Safety

The Journal of the Korean Society of Safety(J. Korean Soc. Saf.) publishes articles about safety in complex system, the design of process, procedures, products, equipment and facilities, and development of new technology in the industrial and social safety, such as mechanical safety, chemical safety, electrical safety, construction safety, ergonomics and system safety, transportation safety, disaster safety, nuclear safety, risk management, and safety policy. Evaluative reviews of the literature, definitive articles on methodology and procedures, and empirical articles reporting original research are considered for publication. Article types

The following types of articles may be submitted:
Research articles deal with previously unpublished original research that is experimental(field or laboratory based), methodological, or theoretical in nature. These articles report a single experiment, concept or modeling that is fully developed and includes a statistical analysis.
Application articles deal with previously unpublished original research that applies ergonomics disciplines to development of software, process, procedures, products, facilities, and human centered systems or environments.
Technical articles deal with previously unpublished illustration of new technologies, a synthesis of published work on a special topic, a review of technology trend, and a research report. Suitably revised papers documented in the proceedings of the ESK conferences may be submitted for consideration as a technical article, if the chair-persons of the presentations recommend them for publication.

 

Article review process

J. Korean Soc. Saf. is a peer refereed journal. All the articles should be published through a totally blind review by two referees. It takes about 1 months for first review. After two referees agree to accept an article it may proceed to the publishing process. If two disagree to accept, the article is returned to the author. Referees may ask the author to revise or re-review for the revised article. Accepted and timely revised articles are often published within 2 to 4 months. All the submitted articles may be reviewed through the online system of the website of J. Korean Soc. Saf.(http://www.jkosos.or.kr). All the published articles are copyrighted in the name of KOSOS(The Korean Society of Safety). A copyright release must be executed through the online system before a manuscript can be published.

 

Manuscript preparation

J. Korean Soc. Saf. manuscripts should be prepared according to the editing rules of J. Korean Soc. Saf. Manuscripts will not be considered for publication unless they are prepared according to these rules.
Use the manuscript template provided by the website of J. Korean Soc. Saf. (http:// www.jkosos.or.kr) for the first and the final(only after acceptance for publication) manuscripts. The prepared manuscript should be submitted only through the website with the address above. Enter the corresponding author's name with contact information and upload the prepared manuscript file in Hangul or MS‐Word format with a filename like 'short version of the article title.hwp or title.doc' at the same website.

 

Research and publication ethics

Papers that have been published elsewhere in the open literature in the same form will not be accepted. The published papers to this journal should not be summited to any other journal.

For the policies on the research and publication ethics not stated in this instructions, International standards for editors and authors (http://publicationethics.org/resources/internationalstandards-for-editors-and-authors) will be applied.

When the Journal faces suspected cases of research and publication misconduct such as- redundant (duplicate) publication, plagiarism, fabricated data, changes in authorship, and etc.-the resolving process will be followed by flowchart provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (http://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts).

The discussion and decision on the suspected cases are done by Editorial Board.

 

Fee for page charge

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, in addition to the page charge of Korean Won 30,000 per every page above 6 pages, the basic publication processing fee of Korean Won 180,000 for up to 6 pages of the manuscript should be paid by the corresponding author before printing.

 

Cover page

The first page of the manuscript should contain the following information written in English:
a. Article title
b. Name of each author(included only after acceptance for publication)
c. Each author's institution and address(included only after acceptance for publication)
d. 300-word structured abstract including objective, background, method, results, conclusion, and application.
e. About 5 key words for indexing purposes

 

Text citations

Reference citations in the text should follow referred sequence. For example, 'Previous studies showed that….results1).'

 

Tables and figures

Each table and figure should be placed near the citing sentence in the text. A Caption written only in English should be placed on the upper part of each table and the lower part of each figure. For example, ‘Table 1. Correlations between predictors and self report’ or 'Figure 2. Performance on the relative position task'

 

Unit of measure

Magnitudes of all measured quantities must be given in the International System of Units (SI).

 

Equations

Equations should be numbered on the right side of them like ‘'(1)’, ‘(2)’, and so on and cited in the text like ‘equation (1)’, ‘equation (2)’, and so on.

 

Acknowledgements(included only after acceptance for publication)

When necessary, acknowledgements written in English may be placed before the references. For example, 'This work was funded by grants from Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies(Grant#KFSTS0000000)'.

 

References

All references should be written only in English. References should be arranged by referred sequence. A reference may have one of the following forms:
