Abstract
Carbon fiber-reinforced composites are used in various fields owing to their light
weight and excellent mechanical properties. In this study, we evaluated the sewing potential
of carbon fiber-reinforced composite materials for applications in textile products such
as shoes, bags, and accessories. We evaluated the sewing strength and elongation according
to the type of carbon fiber-reinforced composite (thermoplastic, thermosetting), type
of sewing thread (nylon, cotton, etc.), and number of plies (2-ply, 3-ply, 4-ply). The surface
according to the sewing conditions was confirmed by microscopic analysis.
